Common Race Distances
The longer the race, the closer pace sits to aerobic threshold, and the more fueling and pacing matter. 5K can be pushed, 10K needs control, and half/full marathons need reserves.
Distance table
5K = 5km; 10K = 10km.
Half = 21.0975km; full = 42.195km.
Strategy differences
5K/10K: warm up well and avoid a reckless start.
Half/full: practice fueling and run the first half 2-3 percent conservative.
FAQ
Can I avoid the marathon wall?
Long runs, fueling and conservative pacing reduce the risk but do not guarantee it.
How much should weekly mileage increase?
